Cormac has worked as an international science journalist for over 25 years. His current focus is on biotechnology. He has previously reported on the ICT industry.

He is a retained correspondent with the US-based BioWorld news service, published by Clarivate, has been a regular contributor to Nature Biotechnology for fifteen years, and has written for numerous other national & international publications.

He has lectured on media as part of UCC’s B.Sc. Genetics programme for the past fifteen years. He has also undertaken a number of speechwriting, editorial consultancy and science communication training assignments and recently contributed to Little Country, Big Talk – Science Communication in Ireland (2017).

He has a B.Sc. in Microbiology from UCC and an MA in Journalism from DCU. He is currently ISTJA’s treasurer and is also a member of the Mary Mulvihill Association executive committee.
